NORTHERN FOURSOMES CELEBRATION

Cleckheaton pair Denise Page and Jackie Barraclough recently won England Golf’s prestigious Northern Region Foursomes Challenge Cup at Knaresborough Golf Club.

The final was an all Cleckheaton affair from 128 entrants, with members Janet Tedstone and Linda Burnley claiming the Runners-Up Prize.

The competition is a straight knock-out from 64 entered pairs and once whittled down, is a gruelling six rounds of golf in three days for the finalists.

After winning the previous five rounds, the Final was a close affair with Denise and Jackie winning just 1 up.

Putting proved to be the difference! Both Jackie and Denise holed some great long putts, starting on the first green, which claimed a half.

The big moment was when Denise holed from off the green on the 16th to put her and Jackie 1 up.

This ultimately proved decisive as the last two holes were halved, although not before a tricky hole out on the 18th for the win.

The North Region includes Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham and the Isle of Man, so it’s a huge achievement for all four ladies to get to the final.

Congratulations to all of you and hopefully it’s the start of many more trophies coming to Cleckheaton in 2026.
