NEW GOLF RULES FOR 2023
Further to the re-vamp of rules in 2019, the R&A and USGA have announced an update to the Rules of Golf which go live on 1 January 2023.
KEY CHANGES INCLUDE:
Handicap Usage in Stroke Play: It’s no longer your responsibility to enter your handicap on your scorecard. However, while you will no longer be disqualified for not doing so, we still ask you to ensure it is on your card to help your marker and also competition closure by the Competition Committee.
Club Damaged During Round: Damaged clubs can now be replaced during a round, unless the damage is through abuse.
Ball Moved by Natural Forces: A ball at rest must be replaced if it moves to another area of the course (eg General Area to Penalty Area) or out of bounds after being dropped, placed or replaced.
Back-on-the-Line Relief Procedure: The ball must now come to rest within one club-length of where it is dropped, including if it comes to rest nearer the hole after being dropped.
Modifications for Players with Disabilities: Previously rule modifications, rules for players with disabilities are now part of the Rules and in effect for all players who fall under categories covered by Rule 25.
