HOW TO REPAIR A PITCH MARK!
Pitch marks on greens is a common complaint and the problem is so easily solved.
Make it a matter of routine to look for your pitch mark and repair it, but to ‘REPAIR’ the pitch mark, you need to use the correct technique.
We all know how much it hursts when a golf ball hits you and grass is no different. It needs to recover.
There is a video link below that explains more, but if you use the following technique, it will allow the grass and roots the best chance of recovery.
- The soil needs to be aerated, so what NOT to do is bash your putter to the back of the pitch mark to move the soil into the space. This simply compacts the soil even more.
- Using your ‘Pitch Repairing Tool’, insert it at the back of the pitch mark and gently move the soil forward into the hole.
- Repeat this all the way around the area, which also allows air under the surface.
- Once there is a small mound of tufted turf where the hole was, simply tap it down gently with your putter and you’re done.
- Finally, if there is another pitch mark close by, repair that as well. If everyone repairs two, there won’t be any pitch marks!!
