HOW TO RAKE A BUNKER!
Our Bunkers were recently topped with fresh sand, so to keep them in great condition, we’d like to remind all golfers of their responsibilities when leaving a bunker and a few tips on how to rake them properly.
Remember leave every bunker how YOU would expect to find it.
Further below this post is a short video to help, but hopefully the below tips will help:
ENTERING THE BUNKER
- Take the rake into the bunker with you.
- To minimise the amount of raking, find a shallow entry point away from slopes and with a short distance to the ball.
- Place the rake within arm’s reach of the ball, but not on the line of your stroke!!
AFTER YOUR SHOT
- If there is a lot of sand to move eg. To fill a deep footprint, you’ll find the rounded side of the rake more useful.
- Use the side with the forks to then smooth the sand over.
- Back out of the bunker on the same line you entered.
- As you go, with BOTH HANDS on the rake, smooth the sand pushing the sand to the middle of the bunker.
LEAVING THE BUNKER
- Step out of the bunker and rake your last footprints by pushing the sand into the middle of the bunker NOT the edge!! We don't want a buildup of sand at the edge.
- Place the rake on the stand provided.
- If there is no stand, lay it on the ground at the side of the bunker, NOT at the front.

Playing from bunkers is not easy. Please don't spoil everyone else's enjoyment of the game with bunkers left in a bad state.
