CAPTAIN’S REPORT – JULY

I had a wonderful Captain’s Day, thank you to all the members and Council Members who played and attended the evening.

Phil Lockwood had a great day on his Rabbit Captains Day at Shipley GC.

The CDGC course is in wonderful condition and a massive pat on the back needs to go to all the greens staff and helpers at this moment in time.

We played Northcliffe last Friday in the Scratch Team and they all commented on how good the course was, so again, well done to all who are involved with the running of the club.

As for the Scratch Team, we are 11 points clear of Bingley with two games left to play. We are away at South Bradford this Friday and home to Baildon the following week. I would like to thank and congratulate Dave Woodcock for coming out of retirement and winning on Friday night against Northcliffe.

8-15's Congrats on getting Promotion.

Ladies won round 3 of the Annodata, away at Selby and are having a mixed season in the scratch league, playing some excellent Ladies.

I am pleased to report that we have again retained our place in the Yorkshire 1st Division Team Championship, which is a great achievement for our club. A massive thank you to Cec Bloice for his support and organising the team that played at Hallamshire on Wednesday 20th July, which consisted of Ben Cheetham, Phil Wilkinson and myself.

The course and conditions made playing extremely difficult. You only need to look at the scoring to see that, but Cec Bloice kept us hydrated and nourished with water, Jaffa cakes and bananas along with some wise words. But well played Ben & Phil.

I hope you all enjoy playing over the next few weeks. The course is in great shape and I look forward to seeing you all on our Centenary on Saturday 30th July.

Best Regards,

Captain, Paul Arthurs
