CAPTAIN'S REPORT
This is my final Captain’s Report, and I must admit I feel a little sad that my year is drawing to a close. It has been a brilliant year, and I want to thank all of you - the members and Council, for your continued support throughout.
We have been fortunate with the weather, which has meant the course has remained open almost all year, apart from one snowy week. The Greens staff deserve huge credit for keeping the course in such excellent condition, coping superbly during the drought, and now, as the rain returns, presenting us with a course that is looking fresh and lush once again.
You may notice some new tees being constructed around the course. These form part of a planned winter layout that will eventually allow us to play qualifiers during the winter months. The course will need to be remeasured once the tees are complete, so this won’t be in place for the coming winter.
On the competition front, there has been more silverware brought back to the Club recently. Many congratulations to Eddie Bowers and Glen Thompson, who won the Fearnside Trophy at Halifax GC on 7th September. This inter-club foursomes knockout, run by the Bradford & District 8–15 Golf Association, saw them defeat Bracken Ghyll in the final with a convincing 5 & 4 victory.
Success also came from our Ladies’ team of Jackie Barraclough, Helen Lambert and Sally Pegg who triumphed in the Evening League Final against South Bradford at The Manor on Sunday just gone.
Two fantastic results and very well done to all involved!
Congratulations as well to the winners of the knockout competitions already completed, and the very best of luck to those with matches still to play.
Once again, thank you all for your support over the past year. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as your Captain.
